It’s Official! Prime Minister Slips From Top To Bottom In Popularity Poll

PM David Cameron takes a pounding from both Ed Miliband and errr, Spongebob (but luckily for the PM, it’s all PANTS!)
Release date: 07.12.10
If poor old David Cameron hasn’t already got enough on his plate with the recession biting hard and now England’s failed bid to host the 2018 World Cup, then according to a new survey his popularity could be slipping even further.

For when more than 1,000 men were asked by underwear and swimwear manufacturer Kiniki.com to choose from a list of people including Royals, showbiz celebs, sports personalities and politicians, whose picture, if any, they would wear on their underpants, the thought of the smiling, or not so smiling face of the Tory leader, struck a resounding bum note.

The survey was carried out across the country for the launch of its new VIVID range of Christmas clothing products after they developed new, pioneering and unique technology to print high-quality photo images onto undies, creating a limitless range of choices.

And to honour the very British tradition of loved ones buying the man in their life new smalls for Christmas, they set about to discover who or what the guys themselves would like featured on their Y-fronts this year – and with some other, rather surprising results.

Of the men polled, a picture of Spongebob Squarepants came top with 31.9%, Labour leader Ed Miliband second with 22.9%, X Factor Star Susan Boyle third with 18.4%, the Union Jack at 8.1%, an image of their own ‘equipment’ at 6.9% beating love cheat Wayne Rooney into sixth place with 3.9%... and then came PM Cameron with a meagre 1.2% of all men polled.

“We are not sure whether this is good news or bad news for the PM,” says John Walker, Managing Director and founder of Kiniki.

“But given that our survey also showed that over half the men choose their underwear for visual impact, this really could be good, or bad, news for the Tories.

“But those are the results and I guess it’s just up to the public to make their minds up whether this signifies a major shift to the left or the right.

"You could say the decision hangs in the balance but maybe the swingometer will give us a clearer indication.”

Kiniki.com expect their VIVID range to be a top seller this Christmas after developing the technology to print top quality photo images onto their underpants which could be anything from number one choice Spongebob, to an image of the roof of the Sistine Chapel.

The survey went further with some other startling results. 55% of men would prefer a picture of their pet on the pants than their partner, and bizarrely, a third of those questioned actually say they WEAR their partner’s pants.

29% of men think their pants are ‘special’ and have a close relationship with them, 20% go commando, nearly half of all men said their partner buys their pants for them, and a fifth still let their mother choose.

Shockingly, only 52% change their pants every day, 19.6% strangely feel ‘cleaner’ when they don’t wear pants, 21.4% change their pants more than once a day, whereas 6.6% say they wear their pants until they ‘stand up on their own.’

Given a choice, 85% of men would prefer to have David Beckham on their pants than wife Victoria, and 79% would choose Fearne Britton over Fearne Cotton. 57% throw out old pants once a year but tragically, 24% never throw them away at all.
